Hey fellas its me again I was wondering if any of you were running JO:escalation(IC mod 4) with Vista yet. I have tried but everytime I go online I get a Punkbuster BOOT saying i have to update PB... I manually updated PB to the newest version but still NO LUCK... If any of you have found a way or know of a way to correct this please feel free to reply to this post... Thanks Rob

This problem does not involve Vista. Its been a problem for a lot of people reinstalling JO. We had a thread detailing the solution but I can't find it at the moment. (Might have been deleted.) But basically you'll have to manually copy and paste some one's working version of the pb folder. I try to add more when I stumble across it.
Good Luck, Liam

Right-click on the JO or JO:E or IC icon and select ---> run as administrator.

Let me know if this works... "I right-clicked the BF2 icon in the Games Explorer and chose "Customize," then chose to edit the Play options. This is like bringing up a Properties dialog box on a regular shortcut. I checked the "Run as Administrator" box and re-launched the game, and that cleared up the problem. That little fix allowed me to jump on any server with Punkbuster enabled, and it ran quite well at 1600x1200 with all the detail options cranked up" www.extremetech.com/article2/0,1697,2090575,00.asp

I got it to work with a lil help from Novalogic.... They said for anybody running VISTA you have to run it as an Admin as KINGME stated but also you have to enter command line:
pbsecurity_0 by hitting the "~" button in game and typing it in...
That will allow updates via Vista... But then it will only work on certain servers as for there server is not updated to take the new PB version... here is the actual letter sent to me from Novalogic :
You will need to turn off UAC (User Account Control) in the Windows Vista control panel. This option when disabled allows PunkBuster to update correctly using the regular in game methods.
Then try using these methods to update your PunkBuster.
When you enter the game, bring up the command console by pressing the ~ key (this is the key just above TAB). Type pb_security 0 and press Enter.
This will cause Punkbuster to update while in the server.
If you cannot get on a server map you will need to create a file using Notepad named pbcl.cfg with the pb_security 0 line in it. Then save the file to the pb folder in the game.
The default path to this folder is C:\Program File\Novalogic\Joint Operations\pb
This should cause PunkBuster to update and will hopefully clear up this issue for you.
